What Makes Nepal Budget-friendly For Adventurers?

According to the report of 2021, an adventure enthusiast spends around $ 2,900 on the trip on an average, excluding airfares.

Well, is that more expensive than you think? We get you. We have a secret to share— Nepal is the real deal for you.

Here's how: at the price lower than that ($ 2900), anywhere from $ 1199 to $ 2,450, you'll get many exciting deals—trekking, camping, mountain biking together with spiritual retreats.

That's why, spending your holidays in Nepal is both economic and fulfilling.

You'll not only quench your insatiable hunger for adventure, nature, and culture, but also save anywhere from whooping $1701 to $ 450.

So, What Makes Holiday In Nepal More Affordable?

First thing first, Nepal is an incredibly budget-friendly country for most travellers. As its currency offers a favourable exchange rate against the dollar, euro, and other major currencies.

As of now- August, 2023- the exchange rate of 1 USD is 131.041 NPR and 1 EURO is 145.05 NPR. These exchange rates in themselves speaks volume about how economical your stay will be in Nepal.

It means if you carry $ 1000 it will be NPR 131,410. And guess what? You can travel a whole lot of places with that amount of money.

Hotel & Rooms

Need a room to have that sound sleep? You'll find rooms from as little as $ 7 and go up to $ 200.  Based on your budget, you can choose the one that better meets your needs.

We usually prefer Boutique hotels for our guests as they're elegant and hygienic coupled with great services. They usually come between $ 40 to $ 70.

Food & Drink

Surviving in Nepal isn't costly. Spend anywhere from $ 15 to $ 30 and you'll always be full before your bed(excluding liquors and other fancy drinks).

Now you can imagine how affordable are the prices for foods and drinks in Nepal.

Transportation

The cost for transportation differs based on what means of transportation you choose.

Are you thinking about taking a flight for intercity travel? Or, are you planning to book a private cab for seamless travel? Maybe, you longing to experience local vehicles for travelling around the country.

All these make a difference.

What Is The Cost Of The Trek?

How much do you need to spend to make this dream trek come true?

And the answer?

Well, it's not that simple; there are many factors at play. It depends on various things - like where you're coming from, the flight ticket to Nepal, and all the expenses along the way.

Honestly, with so many variables at play, it's tough to give an accurate estimate.

But I can give you some rough ideas.

You'll need to consider the international flight cost, your expenses during the journey, and the package cost for Everest Camp to get an overall picture of the total trip expenses.

Oh, and yes, don't forget - the package cost for Everest Base Camp isn't fixed, it depends.

It all comes down to what package you choose, the itinerary, how many people are in your group, and how many days you'll be spending on the trails.

However, the rough estimate of the cost of the Everest Base Camp Trek is anywhere between $ 1199 and $ 2199. Remember, this cost doesn't include international flight tickets.

Here's the kicker: the more buddies you have on the trek, the cheaper it gets per person.

Group discounts are a real thing and can make a significant difference in the total cost, making it more affordable for everyone.

So yeah, trekking in the Himalayas can be a bit of a mystery when it comes to the cost, but understanding these factors and how they play out can help you plan and budget for this epic adventure.

Trust us, this adventure will ignite a fire within you. Urge you to challenge your boundaries. Put your resilience to the test. And uncover the depths of your true potential.

What sets these packages apart is the itinerary and the number of days you spend on the trails.

No matter which package best fits your expectation, you're going to have unlimited serotonin produced, feel overwhelmed with joy, and forget all the stress you've been carrying.

To your great surprise, on the other side of the journey, you'll find yourself joyful, lighter, and decluttered.

Looks promising, right? And it is.

Here are packages and their prices:

What Does The trailQuest Package Fee Include?

The fee you pay for packages includes things that make your journey effortless and hassle-free.

From the day of your arrival to the day of your departure, irrespective of what comes in between, leave it to us and prepare to make your dream adventure unforgettable.

And have no doubt about it, the fee doesn't include expenses of personal nature.

Here's what the package includes:

Accomodation

You'll be accommodated in a cosy hotel where you'll spend comfortable times.

You'll fall in love with the sense of comfort the hotel's ambience exudes, giving you a reason to make yourself comfortable as if you're at home.

Not only that, the swimming pool offers you a chance to wash away all your tiredness after your hectic day tours.

Dive in, relax, and rejoice in it for it gives you peace of mind!

Similarly, Teahouses on the way to the Everest Base Camp aren't as sophisticated as the hotel's in Kathmandu.

They're rustic and give off a vibe of simplicity and traditional charm.

The rooms have two clean beds which you'll be sharing on a twin basis but they lack a touch of elegance and luxury.

And that's what makes this trek special!

Also, don't expect much amenities from these family run lodges. At times, you even have to pay for wifi or hot showers.

It's because they have to spend a good amount of money on managing all these up there at the top of the mountain, making services a bit costly.

Furthermore, not all of them have western-style toilets. Some have. And some don't. That's how things are in the mountains.

Trust me, you won't regret your stay in those rustic Tea Houses as you get to experience simplicity which you can't in sophisticated cities or towns.

The vast Himalayas extend far and deep. There are many trails crossing one another, creating intricate crossroads. Walking these intricate trails alone when you've no experience of the region may result in losing the path.

And who knows what happens if you don't find your way back to the desired destination. Yes, you're dead right! You're trapped!

In fact, there are many real stories of Trekkers who lost their way and failed to return. And you don't want to be one of them, do you? You don't, right?

That's why we organise guided tours.

Our Trek and Tour guides will help you navigate through these intricate trails, brief you about the places, and closely monitor you health status every now and then for your safety.

According to a 2017 report, 54.27% of respondents prefer to have qualified guides on adventure trips.

And that's for some reasons.

Here's why: trained mountain-pioneer guides are an antidote to possible unfortunate situations and blessings for an incredible experience.

They know how to show you the right path and ensure your safe return.

After all, nothing is more precious than your life!

Apart from that, they're also well informed about the region, the people living within, their culture, and their way of life.

They'll share with you not only the tales of the trails and wisdom of Nature but also the inspiration, adventure will have upon your life.

See, how resourceful they're!

These spirited crew members get paid from the fee you pay us in return for arranging stuff for your outdoors.

We pay the guides around $ 35 and porters $ 25 for their endeavour they put into pulling the event off.

Likewise, friendly Porters will be right next to you to ease your loads.

They're the most important personalities of our team.

They make things happen in a way so that you can enjoy your trip without much to bother about. Here's what your support crew looks like on your trip.

1 english-speaking  mountain-expert guide upto 5 pax

Medical supplies:

FACT: A survey in Switzerland asked 827 mountaineers who climbed to 4,559 metres about their experiences.

The results showed that 31% of those who didn't have a history of altitude-related sickness were at risk of getting Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) if they climbed quickly without proper acclimatisation.

16% of them were vulnerable to AMS even with proper acclimatisation, but they still climbed rapidly.

11% of them were prone to Altitude Sickness even though they climbed slowly, but they didn't take the necessary acclimatisation measures.

And only 4% of them were at risk of mountain-related illness because they climbed slowly and acclimatised properly.

This shows clearly the level of risk involved while trekking at higher altitude.

Here's the thing: when you climb beyond 3000 metres several factors come into play.

These factors affect the person in various ways.

And not all of them can adjust with the changed external conditions. Some of them do and some don't.

Regardless of who does and who doesn't, when they can't adapt to the newer atmospheric conditions, they deserve some medical support to ease their struggle. It's as simple as that!

With medical supplies at reach, we can monitor, check, and prevent any kind of complicated problems.

That's why we never let our first-aid kit run short of necessary medical supplies.

See, there's nothing to worry about!

Our crew always carries a medical kit that consists of supplies you may need, at times, to ensure no matter what kind of health issues arise, they can deal with them successfully.

What's Not Included In Your trailQuest Package Fee?

Now you know what your fee covers. Without beating around the bush, now I would like to draw your attention to what the fee doesn't include.

Here's a list of things you need to manage on your own:

Nepal's Visa

When you plan for the Everest Base Camp Trek, you need to get a visa.

And there are a couple of ways to obtain it.

One of the options is to obtain it from Nepal's embassy or consulate office in your country.

Alternatively, you can also get it from an immigration office at the airport- Tribhuvan International Airport.

Or, you can also get it through online which not only saves you time but also prevents you facing a long ques in the airport in Nepal.

Types of visas:

Single-entry

Multiple-entry

Now the question is:

Which visa best suits you?

Depends. It depends on the nature of your visit.

If you're planning to return to the home country right after completing your adventure in Nepal, opt for a Single-entry visa.

And if you've got some other plans, like visiting Nepal, then travelling around India or some other asian countries, and returning to Nepal again, you'll want to go for a Multiple-entry visa.

Make sure you've visa that best serves your purpose.

Cost breakdown for visas:

15 days Visa- $ 30

30 days Visa- $ 50

90 days Visa- $ 125

If I've to recommend you how many days, I would say go for 30 days as you won't be in a rush.

You'll have ample time to wander around stunning landscapes, soak in nature, explore amazing culture, and feel the rays of the Sun on your skin.

Travel Insurance

Irrespective of where you're trekking, TRAVEL INSURANCE is a serious thing to consider.

Purchasing one before the trek is a wise decision.

Why?

Because you never know what lies ahead on your journey. Sometimes situations take a U-turn, leaving you in a dire condition.

And when things don't go as you plan, the insurance agency comes to your rescue, making sure you're risk-free.

FYI, there are many agencies that offer you the best deal. You can get it from any of the agencies you trust and best cover your requirements.

But, World Nomads is the one most of our guests prefer.

But-wait:

What is it that you need to confirm before purchasing the insurance?

Answer?

Your insurance should cover all the following for avoiding likely possible financial losses and fatalities, invisible forces may bring.

Travel Disruption: delays, cancellation, or interruption

Medical Insurance Coverage

Lost/Damaged Luggage Coverage

Insurance package that covers all the above three probable conditions works for you.

Tipping Trekking Crew

There are specific things we don't want to interfere with.

One of them is tipping the crew.

Here's why:

Because we want our guests to have freedom of making decisions.

While saying all this I don't mean we're irresponsible towards our Trail leaders and friendly Porters.

Of course, we're not.

But, what we believe in is incentive is subject to free will.

When guests feel satisfied with the received services, they've always been generous and they'll be in the future.

Also, the trail guides and porters have a role to play herein.

And that's…..

….. to approach the guests, receive them, guide them, and assist them in making their adventure phenomenal.

When the mountain crew contributes in making their journey worthwhile, the outcome that follows will always be win-win for all.

After all, tips are earned, not forced. And this is what we truly believe in.

SIM Card and Internet data

Staying away from home in new circumstances isn't easy.

On top of that, if this is your first time in Nepal, make sure you've access to a communication network.

Even if it's not, having access will always work in your favour.

You can keep up with the world, research what matters to you during your stay, keep in touch with your loved ones, and call for help in case of emergency.

See the magic of having access to a communication network!

But, you need to have a chip or a device for all this.

You've two options in your hand:

Buying new SIM card

Activating roaming service

Look, activating roaming service in your home country's SIM card isn't as lucrative as buying a separate SIM.

It incurs more expenses. And it's a deal worth neglecting when you've a better option out there in the market that's a lot cheaper.

Now the question is, Which SIM card is the best deal for you during your stay in Nepal?

Answer?

Though there are many brands of SIM cards, I believe Ncell better solves your problem.

It just costs you around NRS 300- that's $ 2.30 for a SIM.

Here's why:

First and foremost, Ncell's solid expanded network ensures smooth connectivity.

This allows you to surf the internet without interruption and meets your needs to connect with others anywhere, anytime.

Next, the internet data is comparatively cheap. Spend a few dollars on it and have the world at your fingertips.

But remember, without your passport's Xerox copy and a couple of PP size photos, you won't have it.

So, take the mentioned credentials to have one and enjoy your holidays!

Everyday expenses

When you're in another country for vacation, you wish to spend on things that delights you.

It can be anything- a fabulous work of painting or handicrafts or sculptures.

Or, you may even want to explore places that aren't in standard adventure packages but are still worth visiting.

You can also get involved in activities you believe will help you experience something different that you've been craving for.

Regardless, you may have a couple of things or three you consider worth investing in.

And let us tell you:

Nothing should hold you back, if you suppose they make your life better.

However, it's essential to consider your budget.

Does spending on these things make you run short of cash?

If so, watch out!

You may need it ahead because you still have a long way to go.

It's always better to be safe than sorry!

What To Do In Case You Don't Get What You've Been Promised?

At TrailQuest, we're committed to making your journey swift and stress-free by organising your trip the way we promise you.

However, at times, unforeseen issues may arise, causing things not to go as planned.

Despite the chances of such irregularities, our standard operating procedures in place minimise them, ensuring hassle-free trips for our valued guests.

If, by any chance, inconvenience occurs, we'll take full ownership and responsibility of it.

We leave no stone unturned to make things right for your convenience.

Yes, you heard that right!

We'll do everything in our power to bring back that big bright smile you had before things went North.

Here's how we handle such situations:

Identification of the problem: Once you've registered your issue, we'll promptly figure out what went wrong and understand the nature of the inconvenience.

Compensation: After assessing the financial impact of the damage caused, we'll compensate you accordingly, preventing any sour feelings from developing in you.

Because your happiness matters to us and we want to see you having good times together with your loved ones.

After all, you're on a vacation to have fun, right?

But, let me tell you:

This is only applicable to services highlighted under 'INCLUDES' section of your chosen package.

EXAMPLE:

If we fail to accommodate you in the type of hotel we claim we'll and instead you get a hotel that doesn't comply with what you've been promised, we'll compensate for the loss.

So is the case for all the other options under the same category.

A Word Of Caution: TrailQuest isn't responsible for things that are beyond human's control- natural calamities- and the damage caused by them.

trailQuest’s Payment Policies

Paying for something that you want to engage in sounds fabulous. But, to make payment without clearly understanding the financial policies inside out doesn't help.

There are many things that come into play while planning for the adventure. The reality is, not all the times you'll be able to get your way. And we get it.

At times, due to unforeseen forces you may have to either terminate the adventure or postpone it for some other time. No matter what your reasons are, we'll cover all the points that you need to know for better understanding of the transaction and its nature.

Now the question is:

Should you have to pay for the package prior to the adventure?

Of course, you have to pay a certain amount in advance. As per trailQuest’s rule, to book a trekking you have to pay 25% of the total amount.

Here’s why:

We need to book your flights to Lukla- two ways. Or else, you may not get tickets on that exact same day.

We have to get needed manpower ready so that they can come both physically and mentally prepared to support you on the journey.

We need to book hotel rooms & teahouses in Kathmandu and along the route for your comstay during your visit.

We need to manage ground transport so that when you arrive we can transfer to the hotel hassle-free.

Push Your Limits. Evolve New. And Keep Your Drive Alive.
